Senior/Lead Manufacturing Development Engineer (Metal Additive Manufacturing)

Location: Hawthorne, Los Angeles, CA; full-time onsite presence five days a week

Salary: $150,000–$200,000 per year, plus stock options

What you will do

• Design and implement scalable systems and processes for automated post-print operations, reduced lead times, and increased factory throughput.
• Lead the development and integration of manufacturing hardware, tooling, and automation systems.
• Analyze factory processes using first-principles and data-driven methods to identify and eliminate inefficiencies.
• Bridge R&D and operations to improve development efficiency and manufacturing velocity.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, software, and controls engineers on integrated factory solutions.
• Drive continuous improvement across the complete post-processing workflow.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or a related Engineering discipline.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in engineering development or manufacturing engineering.
• Experience in a fast-paced hardware development or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work onsite at the Hawthorne facility five days per week, with very limited exceptions.

Nice to have

• 8+ years of experience in hardware or manufacturing development and technical leadership experience.
• Experience leading factory buildouts, production line deployment, or automation systems integration.
• Background in post-processing operations such as machining, heat treatment, or inspection.
• Experience with factory infrastructure, metal additive manufacturing, CNC machining, casting, ERP/MRP systems, Excel/data analysis, or OSHA/EHS standards.
