Focus on SolidWorks CAD, FEA and thermal simulation, environmental testing, production support, and integration with sensors, compute, and power electronics.

Location: Fully onsite; candidates are expected to work from the Irvine, CA office. The position is connected to U.S. government projects and requires U.S. Person eligibility.

Salary: $70,000–$300,000 per year, plus benefits, equity, and paid time off.

Company

hirify.global develops risk-aware, reliable AI systems and autonomous robots for demanding real-world environments.

What you will do

  • Design mechanical structures, ruggedized enclosures, compute frames, load-bearing chassis, sensor mounts, and payload interfaces.
  • Develop ingress protection and thermal management solutions using seals, coatings, fans, heat sinks, conductive paths, and airflow guides.
  • Create SolidWorks CAD assemblies and perform FEA and thermal simulations to validate strength, durability, and heat dissipation.
  • Prototype, test, and validate systems through shock, vibration, thermal, ingress, load, and sensor-alignment assessments.
  • Produce drawings, GD&T annotations, bills of materials, assembly instructions, and mechanical weight, volume, and thermal budgets.
  • Support vendors, contract manufacturers, payload integration, production scaling, field debugging, and mechanical health monitoring.

Requirements

  • B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks or an equivalent mechanical CAD platform.
  • Familiarity with FEA and thermal modeling tools.
  • Experience designing hardware for vibration, shock, thermal cycling, and environmental exposure.
  • Knowledge of CNC, sheet metal, additive manufacturing, assembly, and design-for-manufacturing workflows.
  • U.S. Person eligibility is required, including U.S. citizenship, U.S. nationality, lawful permanent residence, refugee status, or asylee status.

Nice to have

  • Experience scaling robotic systems from prototype to large-scale production.
  • Experience with harsh field environments and deployed robotics such as autonomous vehicles, drones, or ruggedized robots.
  • Fluency across mechanical, electrical, sensing, embedded computing, and software systems.
  • Experience designing to IP ratings, MIL-STD, or equivalent ruggedness standards.

Culture & Benefits

  • Fully onsite collaboration with flexible working hours.
  • Full benefits, equity, and generous time off.
  • Work on autonomous robots deployed in unstructured, previously unknown environments.
  • Inclusive workplace focused on merit, qualifications, and performance.
