Manufacturing Engineer

Location: On-site in Austin, TX; New York, NY; San Francisco, CA; or Seattle, WA

Salary: $169,000–$208,000 per year, plus equity and benefits

What you will do

• Design production-line layouts, station counts, and takt-time calculations for module fabrication and assembly.
• Model capacity, bottlenecks, buffers, and output under process variation.
• Develop ramp plans to move each production line from first unit to target rate while identifying operational constraints.
• Redesign manufacturing lines as product configurations evolve without requiring complete factory rebuilds.
• Apply simulation and quantitative analysis to validate layout, flow, and capacity decisions.
• Design operator-centered workflows with attention to ergonomics, material presentation, and production flow.

Requirements

• Experience designing manufacturing lines or major line extensions that were built.
• Capacity and takt-time models that matched real-world production results.
• Experience using simulation or rigorous mathematical analysis to identify bottlenecks.
• Ability to defend layout decisions with data and revise them when evidence changes.
• Strong ownership, autonomy, high execution speed, and willingness to work across the scope required to deliver results.

Nice to have

• Discrete-event simulation experience.
• Experience with heavy product lines or greenfield factory design.
• Lean manufacturing and Toyota Production System grounding.
