Software Development Manager (SDET/Test Automation)

Location: Hybrid role based in Newark, New Jersey or New York City, United States

Salary: $200,000–$215,000 per year, plus bonus eligibility

What you will do

• Lead, manage, mentor, and support the career development of software development teams.
• Direct the design, development, delivery, scalability, maintainability, and release readiness of software solutions.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership for test automation frameworks, data mapping validation, ETL-related testing, and engineering quality practices.
• Partner with architects, product managers, and business stakeholders on technical solutions, delivery plans, and development roadmaps.
• Review technical designs, code quality, development processes, and release readiness.
• Improve agile delivery, CI/CD, code reviews, automation integration, and engineering standards across distributed onshore and offshore teams.

Requirements

• 5–10 years of experience in software development or related engineering roles, with progressive technical leadership or people management responsibility.
• Hands-on experience in SDET, automation engineering, or test framework development.
• Strong experience with test automation, especially data mapping validation and ETL-related testing.
• Experience leading development teams while participating in technical design and architecture discussions.
• Experience working with distributed teams, including consultants, contractors, and full-time employees.
• Strong understanding of SDLC, agile methodologies, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving.

Nice to have

• Experience with OLTP and MPP databases, SQL, database validation, and data-intensive applications.
• Exposure to cloud platforms, DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and modern engineering toolchains.
• Knowledge of tax reporting processes and AI or machine learning concepts, tools, or applications.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
