Director/Senior Manager - AI Harness Engineering

Salary: $150,500–$236,500 base pay annually

What you will do

• Design and build the AI engineering harness, including agent guides, reusable skills, architectural rules, feedback loops, guardrails, and shared repository context.
• Develop automated quality controls such as linters, architecture-fitness tests, verification loops, LLM-as-judge reviewers, and continuous drift sensors.
• Own regional AI governance, including agent authority boundaries, LLM testing infrastructure, quality gates, security controls, and compliance thresholds.
• Define observability and performance metrics for agent-assisted development, including merge time, review velocity, defect escape rate, and agent-PR survival rate.
• Set cross-organizational engineering quality standards and align harness capabilities with platform, product, and delivery roadmaps.
• Manage, coach, and grow a geographically distributed team while communicating strategy and standards across engineering and product organizations.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on software engineering experience with large, complex codebases and a focus on architecture, testing, and maintainability.
• Experience using AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex, or similar tools.
• Experience building engineering tooling, including static analysis, CI/CD pipelines, containerized build and test environments, and observability instrumentation.
• Knowledge of spec-driven development, context engineering, agent orchestration, fitness functions, developer platforms, and AGENTS.md-style conventions.
• Experience with AI governance, quality standards, LLM testing infrastructure, and quality gates for AI-generated artifacts.
• Experience securing autonomous agents through prompt-injection defenses, permission scoping, sandboxed execution, audit trails, and least-privilege guardrails; strong experience managing distributed engineering teams is required.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
