Senior Software Engineering Manager (Data Engineering)

Location: Mounds View, Minnesota, United States; on-site four days per week with less than 10% travel

Salary: $175,200–$262,800 USD annually, plus eligibility for the hirify.global Incentive Plan

What you will do

• Build and develop high-performing data engineering teams through coaching, mentoring, hiring, and talent development.
• Lead engineering activities for data services, including staffing, budgets, product quality, technical capability, process improvement, and compliance.
• Establish practices for quality, observability, security, automation, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, DevSecOps, automated testing, and data quality engineering.
• Partner with Product Managers, Program Managers, Architects, and business leaders to prioritize investments, backlogs, roadmaps, and release plans.
• Manage 3–6 scrum teams, including performance management, compensation planning, career development, and ongoing feedback.
• Improve reliability, performance, scalability, and cost efficiency while addressing technology advancement, component obsolescence, cybersecurity, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics with at least 7 years of technical experience, or an advanced degree with at least 5 years of technical experience and 5 years of demonstrated managerial experience.
• Unrestricted U.S. work authorization is required at the time of hire and throughout employment; sponsorship is not available for roles below the Principal level.
• Experience leading software engineering or data engineering organizations and managing multiple teams.
• Ability to lead engineering work involving cloud data ecosystems, distributed data processing, ETL/ELT, streaming platforms, data lakes or lakehouses, APIs, and microservices.
• Ability to ensure compliance with software, cybersecurity, and regulatory standards.

Nice to have

• Med-tech experience and a patient-first business perspective.
• Experience managing geographically distributed software development teams.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and platforms such as Spark, Kafka, Databricks, Snowflake, Redshift, Delta Lake, Airflow, or dbt.
