TL;DR
Simulation Engineer (Physics-Based Modeling/Metal 3D Printing): Developing high-performance numerical solvers and physics-based, data-driven models for automated metal 3D printing systems with an accent on multi-physics simulation, GPU/HPC execution, and hardware integration. Focus on building real-time simulation pipelines, computational geometry and meshing, specialized FPGA/GPU architectures, and model-predictive control strategies.

Location: On-site in Hawthorne, Los Angeles, California, five days per week, with very limited exceptions.

Salary: $115,000–$150,000 per year, plus stock options.

Company

hirify.global develops AI-native manufacturing systems that combine software, hardware, and physics to produce industrial-scale parts through automated metal 3D printing.

What you will do

  • Develop high-performance numerical solvers for advanced metal 3D printing physics.
  • Implement real-time or near-real-time simulation models for HPC and GPU platforms.
  • Build and deploy physics-based and data-driven models of laser powder bed fusion with software engineers.
  • Integrate low-level solvers into simulation pipelines and interface them with hardware systems.
  • Guide computational geometry and meshing techniques for large-scale physics-driven simulations.
  • Architect FPGA/GPU simulation modules and contribute to model-predictive control strategies.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in applied mathematics, physics, computer science, mechanical engineering, or a related technical field; a PhD may substitute for industry experience.
  • Experience writing low-level numerical solvers for physical simulations.
  • Strong programming skills in C, C++, or CUDA.
  • Experience developing simulations in high-performance computing environments, including GPUs.
  • Academic or professional familiarity with solid mechanics, continuum mechanics, or related physical modeling domains.
  • Ability to work full-time on-site in Hawthorne, California.

Nice to have

  • Experience with real-time or near-real-time GPU or parallel computing simulations.
  • Experience with direct numerical simulation, thermo-elastic or thermo-elastoplastic modeling, and hybrid physics/data methods.
  • Familiarity with computational geometry, 2D/3D meshing libraries, optimization, and control theory.
  • Strong numerical analysis, first-principles problem-solving, written communication, and verbal communication skills.

Culture & Benefits

  • Inclusive, diverse, collaborative, and learning-oriented work environment.
  • Significant stock option package and employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Life insurance, traditional and Roth 401(k), paid vacation, sick leave, company holidays, and parental leave.
  • Relocation assistance, catered meals, stocked kitchenette, flexible work hours, and team-building events.
