Consultant, Software Engineer (Guidewire)

Location: Hybrid; must reside within 35 miles of Scottsdale, Arizona, or Columbus, Ohio. Two days in the office and three days remote.

Salary: $118,000–$222,000 annually; expected starting range $118,000–$178,000.

What you will do

• Configure and extend Guidewire InsuranceNow for submission, rating, quoting, binding, policy issuance, and policy maintenance.
• Design, develop, test, troubleshoot, document, and deploy Java software, REST APIs, and system integrations.
• Implement rating and underwriting rules, product enhancements, form changes, API capabilities, and Guidewire upgrades.
• Investigate defects, incidents, vulnerabilities, integration issues, and production or test-environment problems.
• Participate in agile ceremonies, technical design sessions, code reviews, release preparation, deployment validation, and post-release monitoring.
• Mentor team members, reduce technical debt, improve test coverage, and collaborate with analysts, architects, quality engineers, product leaders, and dependent integration teams.

Requirements

• Six years of experience in programming and systems analysis.
• Hands-on experience with Guidewire InsuranceNow or a comparable property and casualty policy-administration platform.
• Strong Java and object-oriented software-development skills; proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, C++, Python, or JavaScript.
• Experience developing REST APIs and integrations, with strong diagnostic and testing skills across user interfaces, APIs, integrations, rating, forms, and policy lifecycle functionality.
• Practical knowledge of DevSecOps, Git-based version control, CI/CD pipelines, secure coding, vulnerability remediation, and software development lifecycle practices.
• Must reside within 35 miles of Scottsdale, Arizona, or Columbus, Ohio; the role does not qualify for employer-sponsored work authorization.

Nice to have

• Guidewire InsuranceNow configuration and development experience.
• Extensive API development and Apigee experience.
• Experience managing code and configuration across multiple development branches.
• Experience with GitHub Actions, GitHub Copilot, and Harness.
• Three years of project management experience and insurance or financial services industry knowledge.
