Head of Electrical (Hardware Design)

Location: Hawthorne, Los Angeles, California — full-time onsite presence five days a week

Salary: $175,000–$350,000 per year, plus stock options

What you will do

• Lead and provide technical guidance to the electrical engineering team while improving the R&D process and development pace.
• Act as the primary technical architect for the system’s electrical elements.
• Design, analyze, simulate, and troubleshoot electrical hardware as a hands-on individual contributor.
• Lead system-level integration and validation of electrical designs.
• Provide technical project management from concept through production when required.
• Collaborate with software, mechanical, and process engineering teams on multidisciplinary systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or computer engineering.
• 10+ years of experience architecting, developing, and integrating complex electrical hardware systems.
• Broad experience with analog and digital circuit design, power systems, data acquisition, image and signal processing, and control systems.
• Track record of leading complex multidisciplinary projects and teams.
• Ability to work onsite in Hawthorne five days per week.

Nice to have

• Master’s or PhD in electrical engineering, computer engineering, mechatronics, or robotics.
• Experience with robotics, UAVs, autonomous cars, rockets, spacecraft, or other automated hardware.
• Experience developing electrical hardware in high-performance compute environments.
• Knowledge of high-speed interfaces such as PCIe.
• Python and C++ experience for interfacing with electrical hardware systems.
