TL;DR
Manufacturing Engineer, Robotics Hardware (Robotics Manufacturing): Designing and continuously improving assembly and manufacturing processes for robotic systems, payloads, and electromechanical subassemblies with an accent on design for manufacturability, yield improvement, quality, and functional testing. Focus on developing scalable production processes, solving root causes of defects, and building tooling, fixtures, and test strategies for reliable field-ready robots.

Location: Fully onsite at the Irvine, California office, United States

Salary: $100,000–$150,000 per year, plus benefits and equity

What you will do

  • Own and continuously improve assembly processes for robotic systems, payloads, and subassemblies.
  • Create work instructions, assembly procedures, process flows, and build documentation for prototype, pilot, and production builds.
  • Lead DFM and DFA reviews with Mechanical, Electrical, and Systems Engineering teams to reduce complexity, cost, assembly time, and part count.
  • Establish manufacturing KPIs, track yields, analyze production data, and lead failure analysis and corrective actions.
  • Define quality requirements, inspection plans, acceptance criteria, and functional test procedures for components, subsystems, and completed systems.
  • Design assembly fixtures, tooling, manufacturing aids, and test-station processes while supporting internal production teams and contract manufacturers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of manufacturing engineering experience supporting complex hardware products.
  • Strong experience with DFM, DFA, process development, production support, and electromechanical assembly processes.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing quality systems, root-cause analysis, process control, documentation, and process validation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.
  • Ability to work fully onsite at the Irvine, California office.

Nice to have

  • Experience in robotics, autonomous systems, aerospace, automotive, industrial equipment, or similar industries.
  • Experience taking products from prototype through scaled production and working with contract manufacturers.
  • Familiarity with PCBAs, wiring harnesses, sensors, motors, actuators, and precision mechanical assemblies.
  • Experience developing production test equipment and functional test procedures.
  • Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, SPC, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma.
