Salary: $133,500–$184,800 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Own the design of critical shielding, container, graphite, and metallic reactor structures.
• Conduct trade studies, select materials, and develop designs that meet program requirements.
• Perform static strength, durability, fatigue, vibration, shock, and other structural analyses using hand calculations and finite element tools.
• Develop manufacturing and assembly instructions, test plans, and subassembly schedules.
• Manage bills of materials, suppliers, manufacturing, integration, and testing activities.
• Own subsystem FMEA risk analysis and collaborate with engineers across functional areas.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical, Civil, or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.
• At least 6 years of experience designing structures.
• At least 4 years of stress-analysis experience using hand calculations and finite element tools such as Abaqus, Ansys, FEMAP, or similar.
• Ability to work 100% onsite in El Segundo and comply with U.S. export-control requirements.
• Strong organizational, written, oral communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience designing multi-component assemblies in NX or similar CAD tools.
• Experience with manufactured, deployed, and iteratively improved hardware.
• Experience resolving thermal expansion issues and applying GD&T.
• Experience with text-based software development tools and high-fidelity finite element analysis.
