Staff Scientist I (Environmental Science)

Location: Richmond, Virginia, United States; day trips to project sites 4–5 days per week with home office time

What you will do

• Conduct inspections at project sites for compliance with erosion and sediment control, stormwater management standards, specifications, and applicable regulations.
• Coach on-site personnel on environmental compliance, erosion and sediment control maintenance and repair, and SWPPP documentation.
• Perform stormwater management inspections at operational facilities and evaluate best management practices.
• Travel to project sites 4–5 days per week and prepare reports and complete administrative work from the home office.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Geology, or a related field is preferred.
• 0–2 years of experience with erosion, sediment, and stormwater management.
• Dual stormwater and erosion and sediment inspector certification or comparable experience is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to write effective daily reports.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
