Research Assistant, Learning Supports

Location: Remote within the United States or from AIR's U.S. office locations; U.S. territories are excluded. Preference is given to candidates available to work from the headquarters in Crystal City, Virginia.

Anticipated hourly rate: $27.02–$33.02 USD

What you will do

• Conduct literature reviews supporting research projects and proposal development.
• Prepare, clean, and quality-check datasets, including variables, missing values, and errors.
• Code and review studies for research synthesis and evidence review projects.
• Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses and contribute to interpreting and reporting findings.
• Coordinate with school and district leaders and maintain project spreadsheets, databases, and tracking tools.
• Prepare research products, presentations, communication materials, and proposal content.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or a related field.
• Knowledge of or experience with research methodologies and data collection approaches, including surveys, structured interviews, observations, focus groups, and research synthesis screening.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively and communicate effectively with stakeholders and external partners in a virtual environment.
• Must be currently authorized to work full-time in the United States; employment-based visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with or interest in learning NVivo, R, or Stata.
• Experience with or interest in communication tools, strategies, and social media platforms.
