Environmental Scientist I

Location: New York, NY; hybrid work with field work across all boroughs of NYC, Westchester, and Long Island

What you will do

• Lead and complete Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and Phase II Environmental Site Investigations.
• Conduct field investigations and sample soil, groundwater, sediment, soil vapor, air, and other environmental media.
• Prepare workplans, technical reports, remedial documents, specifications, plans, soil boring logs, figures, tables, and data summaries.
• Oversee drillers, laborers, and other subcontractors during boring advancement, monitoring well installation, test pits, excavation, and remedial construction.
• Manage environmental construction field activities, including community air monitoring, soil management, and remedial construction oversight.
• Lead project work, supervise junior staff, provide training, and perform peer reviews of Phase I assessments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, or a related discipline.
• At least 2 years of environmental consulting experience, including Phase I and Phase II assessments and investigations.
• Experience with soil, sediment, soil vapor, air, and groundwater sampling, boring logs, and Burmister soil classification.
• Working knowledge of NYSDEC requirements, including DER-10, Part 360, and Part 375.
• OSHA 40-Hour Training and 8-hour refreshers; ability to wear a respirator and pass pre-employment and DOT-regulated random drug testing.
• Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and willingness to travel for field work in the NYC metropolitan area.
