What you will do

• Advise engineering design decisions based on radiation effects on materials used in radiation shield vaults.
• Partner with neutronics engineers to predict and model radiation impact on material properties and assess system-level radiation risk.
• Oversee testing campaigns quantifying radiation effects on materials.
• Lead strategic projects to expand material science capabilities.
• Perform literature reviews and distill radiation effects information for non-nuclear engineers.
• Collaborate with internal teams, external vendors, national labs, and universities, representing hirify.global at technical meetings.

Requirements

• Must have 15+ years of experience handling radioactive materials and radiation effects on materials.
• Degree in nuclear engineering, materials science, physics, or related discipline.
• 8+ years experience with non-aqueous corrosion and environmentally assisted degradation mechanisms.
• 8+ years experience with neutron interactions affecting materials.
• 8+ years experience in data analysis using Python, MATLAB, or C++ with strong technical communication skills.
• Ability to operate in dynamic environments balancing risks and delivery.
