Additive Engineer (New Grad December 2026) (Metal 3D Printing)

Location: Los Angeles, CA / Hawthorne, California; full-time onsite presence five days a week

Salary: $95,000–$110,000 per year, plus stock options

What you will do

• Understand printing system capabilities and roadmap, and collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams to automate high-volume production.
• Drive print production from DFAM feedback and file preparation through printing, post-processing, and quality control.
• Analyze in situ data and post-print part quality to support continuous improvement.
• Define test methods, evaluate solutions, iterate on designs, and provide technical recommendations using first-principles thinking.
• Document application requirements, statements of work, standard operating procedures, action items, and next steps.
• Work with internal and external customers on technical capabilities and Design for Additive Manufacturing improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering from an ABET-accredited university or college.
• Hands-on design experience through internships, engineering clubs, or similar projects.
• Full life-cycle hardware design experience covering hand calculations, CAD, fabrication, and testing.
• Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals and a first-principles approach to problem solving.
• Ability to work onsite in Hawthorne five days per week, with very limited exceptions.

Nice to have

• Master’s or PhD in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• Experience with metal 3D printing, especially LPBF, or metal additive manufacturing process development.
• Matlab or similar scripting experience for toolpath generation.
• Mechanical systems design and customer-facing experience.
• Experience working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and collaborating across disciplines.
