Technical Manager (Java/AWS)

Location: Dublin, Ohio, United States; hybrid with three days per week on-site

What you will do

• Lead and coach a cross-functional team of full stack developers, cloud engineers, and specialists covering ETL, data pipelines, QA automation, and business systems analysis.
• Partner with Product Managers to convert product direction into outcomes, milestones, delivery plans, staffing decisions, and release priorities.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership through architecture, system design, technical spikes, code reviews, pairing, and end-to-end feature ownership.
• Own AWS application and integration architecture, including REST and event-driven services, scalability, security, maintainability, and cost awareness.
• Improve production readiness through observability, incident response, root cause analysis, disaster recovery documentation, CI/CD, release hygiene, and automated testing.
• Lead ETL and data integration across internal and external sources, while identifying responsible AI-enabled opportunities for automation, anomaly detection, reconciliation, and alerting.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience, including 3+ years in technical leadership such as engineering management or tech lead work.
• Strong coding and system design experience building and operating distributed production services.
• Experience with Java, Spring Boot, React, data visualization libraries, containers, microservices, AWS, and EKS or ECS.
• Experience with observability, on-call readiness, incident management, CI/CD, automated testing, search technologies, relational databases, API gateways, and stable API design.
• Experience with Python-based ETL, data integration, Agile delivery, and communicating architecture, risks, and tradeoffs to technical and business stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Strong AWS and Snowflake experience.
• Experience with Google Analytics for reporting and insights.
• Familiarity with accessibility for web applications and platform UI integrations.
