Software Engineering Manager (AI)

What you will do

• Lead the Platform Core engineering team responsible for shared enterprise services including identity and access, payments, data warehousing, reporting, notifications, search, API Gateway, and tenant management.
• Own architecture, engineering roadmaps, API contracts, service onboarding, SLAs, releases, and operational health across the platform.
• Design multi-tenant, event-driven services for state, county, and municipal customer hierarchies.
• Lead the migration to centralized identity and authorization, standardized reporting, production-grade notifications, and reliable shared payment services.
• Manage delivery planning, release management, support intake, incident response, platform metrics, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, disaster recovery, and AWS cost efficiency.
• Guide the team through agentic delivery, including specification-driven development, AI-assisted code generation, review standards, testing, and quality measurement.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including significant work on platform, shared-services, or API-layer systems.
• 4+ years leading platform or infrastructure engineering teams, including hiring, performance management, and engineer development.
• Hands-on technical depth in architecture reviews, pull requests, architecture discussions, and decision records.
• Strong experience with AWS serverless and event-driven architecture, including Lambda, API Gateway, EventBridge, SQS/SNS, RDS, and Redshift.
• Node.js and TypeScript proficiency, multi-tenant SaaS experience, and depth in at least two enterprise domains such as identity, analytics, reporting, messaging, or payments.
• Production experience with AI-assisted or agentic delivery and with regulated environments such as government, finance, or healthcare.

Nice to have

• Keycloak, OIDC/OAuth, MFA, RBAC/ABAC, or centralized authorization experience.
• QuickSight, Redshift star schemas, or reporting-tool consolidation experience.
• SMS and email delivery at scale, payment reconciliation, or public-sector security frameworks.
• RAG pipelines, LLM APIs, document extraction, MCP servers, or securing agent access to enterprise systems.
• Spec-driven development, context engineering, reusable agent skills, or internal developer-platform experience.
