Associate Director, Software Engineering (AI)

Location: Waltham, Massachusetts, United States; hybrid work model

Base salary: USD 180,000–195,000 annually

What you will do

• Build, lead, and mentor a team of 5–6 platform engineers.
• Architect, design, and implement scalable, highly available platform components, services, and RESTful APIs.
• Define technical requirements and deliver solutions with engineering, design, and product teams.
• Adopt AI-driven development practices, including agentic coding tools and AI-augmented code reviews.
• Provide technical leadership through architecture discussions, code reviews, mentoring, and roadmap planning.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, security vulnerabilities, observability gaps, and other system limitations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of software development experience building and scaling complex distributed systems.
• 2+ years of experience managing direct reports and developing people’s careers.
• Experience with B2B enterprise SaaS platforms, multi-tenant systems, cloud-native applications, and microservices.
• Experience with AuthZ/AuthN, OAuth, OIDC, Kubernetes, Helm, Fleet GitOps, service mesh, Docker, and a public cloud provider; AWS is preferred.
• Proficiency in multiple programming languages, with experience in C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, and/or Go, plus strong communication and production debugging skills.
