People Director (AI)

Location: Jersey City, NJ, USA; the organization operates across the US and Greece, including an Athens office.

What you will do

• Build the People function from the ground up, including strategy, systems, infrastructure, and organizational design.
• Partner with the CEO, CFO, and Chief of Staff on workforce planning, organizational structure, and company-wide goal-setting.
• Design compensation philosophy, pay bands, job leveling, career architecture, equity strategy, and performance review systems.
• Create structured recruiting and interview processes for hiring across the US and Greece.
• Establish onboarding, training, employee engagement, feedback, culture, and manager development programs.
• Own HR operations and the employee lifecycle, including HRIS, policies, payroll coordination, equipment, access management, compliance, and offboarding; hire and lead the People team.

Requirements

• 6+ years of progressive People leadership experience building strategic people systems and processes from scratch.
• Analytical early-career foundation in management consulting, investment banking, private equity, corporate strategy, or business operations.
• Hands-on ability to own People work end to end, from compensation strategy to operational paperwork.
• Deep knowledge of US employment practices and multi-state compliance.
• Experience partnering directly with senior leadership at a venture-backed or growth-stage technology company.
• Empathy, curiosity, self-awareness, humility, adaptability, and comfort working in cross-disciplinary teams.

Nice to have

• Cross-border experience across the US and Europe, including international employment and GDPR.
• Experience supporting international expansion, organizational transformation, or public-company readiness.
• Experience selecting, implementing, or migrating HRIS, payroll, or EOR platforms.
• Experience preparing headcount plans, compensation benchmarking, and organizational design materials for boards and investors.
