Head of People (AI)

Location: San Francisco office; onsite 5 days a week

Salary: $400,000–$500,000 per year, plus equity and competitive benefits

What you will do

• Own hiring strategy and execution across all functions, including technical and research roles.
• Define compensation, leveling, and equity principles to attract and retain exceptional talent.
• Own the employee experience from offers and onboarding through development, performance management, and offboarding.
• Shape a high-performance, mission-driven culture while preserving trust, intensity, and high standards.
• Build scalable People systems, processes, and infrastructure for rapid growth.
• Partner with founders and leaders on organizational design, workforce planning, succession planning, leadership development, and sensitive employee relations.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in People or Talent roles.
• Experience building or scaling a People function at a high-growth startup.
• Track record of hiring technical and research talent under intense pressure without compromising quality.
• Ability to operate with ambiguity and build processes from scratch.
• Strong judgment, discretion, empathy, and sound decision-making in high-stakes people situations.
