Head of People, US

Location: New York, United States

Salary: $180,000–$200,000 per year, plus stock options and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead people strategy and operations for the US and Canada workforce, including organizational design and workforce planning.
• Act as the US subject matter expert on employment law and partner with external counsel on compliance and risk.
• Own compensation philosophy, market benchmarking, salary bands, incentive plans, and related communication cycles.
• Design and run performance review, employee engagement, manager enablement, and leadership coaching programs.
• Manage employee relations, internal investigations, accommodation requests, benefits processes, offboarding, and exit procedures.
• Lead and develop the US/Canada People team and partner with Talent, Payroll, executives, and managers.

Requirements

• 8+ years of progressive HR or People experience at a technology company or high-growth startup in New York City.
• 4+ years of people leadership experience, including experience in both startup and mid-to-large organizational environments.
• Experience working in a global company with a distributed, multi-region workforce and supporting front-line teams directly.
• Experience coaching executives and navigating large-scale organizational change, restructuring, or workforce reductions.
• Strong knowledge of multi-state US employment law and exceptional communication skills.
• Ability to design scalable systems while remaining hands-on in operational execution.

Nice to have

• SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or equivalent HR certification.
• Experience with HRIS platforms such as HiBob or JustWorks.
• Experience partnering with growing go-to-market teams in a high-growth startup.
