Head of People

Location: On-site at the San Francisco HQ, San Francisco, California

Salary: $260,000–$375,000 annually plus equity

What you will do

• Partner with founders and executives on workforce planning, organizational design, and people strategy.
• Lead retention and engagement initiatives, identify people risks early, and reduce attrition.
• Maintain compliance across all operating jurisdictions, including policies and the employee handbook.
• Own compensation philosophy, benchmarking, compensation bands, equity refresh strategy, and job architecture.
• Set and improve the performance strategy, including review cycles, calibration, and manager coaching.
• Develop managers, use people data to guide decisions, support employees through sensitive situations, and manage departures thoughtfully.

Requirements

• 8–10+ years of progressive People or HR experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role.
• Experience leading retention interventions, structured listening programs, and actionable people-health reporting.
• Experience scaling a company from approximately 50 to 150+ employees.
• End-to-end experience running performance cycles, including calibration, manager coaching, and compensation changes.
• Deep compensation expertise and fluency with multi-state and international employment.
• Exceptional discretion, judgment, executive-level candor, and experience coaching first-time and mid-level managers.

• Familiarity with Rippling, Ashby, and Deel.
• Experience building or leading a People team.
