Senior Backend Engineer (AI)

Location: San Francisco, California

Salary: $190,000–$265,000 base salary per year, plus equity and bonus

What you will do

• Design, implement, and ship APIs and backend services for the editor, dashboard, and customer documentation sites.
• Build content pipelines that ingest, validate, transform, and publish content from customer repositories.
• Develop search, retrieval, and agent infrastructure for AI products.
• Improve caching, queues, databases, and observability to support performance and reliability at scale.
• Contribute to product direction, technical decisions, and feature delivery from development through launch.

Requirements

• 4+ years of software development experience.
• Strong experience with systems design, API architecture, databases, and production systems.
• Strong product intuition and interest in the reasons behind technical decisions.
• Ability to work beyond backend engineering when needed to ship features.
• Comfort with high ownership, defining solutions, and speaking directly with customers.
