Staff Software Engineer (AI)

Location: New York, hybrid; expected to work from the NYC office 3+ days per week

Salary: $284,000–$325,000 base, plus equity

What you will do

• Build platform and backend systems across conversation recording, integrations, AI agents, and related product capabilities.
• Own key features end to end, including architecture, implementation, deployment, and support.
• Design scalable backend services for real-time processing of sales conversations.
• Partner with product and design to turn customer needs into technical solutions.
• Maintain system and product health through data-driven decisions, code reviews, documentation, and engineering best practices.
• Evolve development practices and tooling to support sustainable scaling.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Ability and willingness to work from the NYC office at least 3 days per week.
• Strong proficiency in modern programming languages, databases, API frameworks, and cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a first-principles mindset.
• Strong communication skills for explaining complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with scalable backend systems, real-time processing, and end-to-end feature development.

Nice to have

• Experience with Node, TypeScript, serverless functions, Google Cloud Platform, Git, Datadog, or Figma.
• Experience working across the full stack or with AI-powered products.
