Backend Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid role based in one of the hubs in London, New York City, San Francisco, or Seattle, with a minimum of two in-office days per week; occasional team and company offsites.

Annual base salary: $180,000–$250,000 USD, plus discretionary bonus, equity, and benefits for eligible roles.

What you will do

• Write readable, testable, and efficient code in Go.
• Develop and scale APIs, infrastructure, billing, security, and integrations for the hirify.global platform.
• Own key features end to end and help define the technical direction of large projects.
• Evaluate, strengthen, and document architecture, tools, and engineering processes.
• Improve software quality through automation and continuous delivery while reducing technical debt and time to production.
• Mentor engineers on system design, problem-solving, and working effectively in uncertain environments.

Requirements

• Extensive experience writing efficient and maintainable Go code, including testing, readability, and optimization best practices.
• Broad knowledge of backend and frontend systems, with experience building and scaling APIs, CLI tools, billing systems, and security protocols.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure and designing reliable, performant, and scalable systems.
• Experience with software quality, test automation, continuous delivery, technical debt management, and accelerating time to production.
• Hands-on experience as a backend or product engineer in a SaaS technology company.
• Ability to collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers and operate in rapidly changing, high-uncertainty environments.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Exposure to frontend frameworks.
