Data Science Manager (AI)

Salary: $207,000–$304,000 base salary per year, plus bonus, equity, and benefits

What you will do

• Recruit, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of data scientists while establishing career development paths.
• Partner with engineering, product, power systems experts, and external partners to translate business goals into data science roadmaps.
• Guide the discovery, investigation, curation, and quality control of large and complex datasets.
• Define problem framing, test datasets, product metrics, and performance metrics for machine learning systems.
• Lead data annotation strategies, experimentation frameworks, A/B testing, and advanced analytics for electric grid visibility and resilience.
• Champion GenAI-enabled data analysis and engineering best practices for production-grade ML systems.

Requirements

• PhD or master’s degree in a quantitative field and 8+ years of experience in technology or the energy industry as a statistician, quantitative analyst, or data scientist.
• 5+ years of direct management or leadership experience with data science and analytics teams.
• Advanced experience in experimental design, A/B testing, statistical experiments, multivariate analysis, stochastic models, and sampling methods.
• Experience with Python, SQL, R, Pandas, Scikit-Learn, and other relevant ML frameworks.
• Experience with electric power grid data, electrical network physics, and utility data.
• Experience building ML model evaluation tooling and collaborating with software engineering teams on production systems.
