AI Researcher (AI)

Location: Hybrid role based in San Francisco, CA, with regular in-office collaboration

Salary: $180,000–$250,000 per year, plus bonus or incentive opportunities.

What you will do

• Take AI research ideas from problem formulation through modeling, evaluation, deployment, and iteration.
• Design and operate large-language-model and agent-driven systems used across the enterprise.
• Build robust evaluation, monitoring, and reliability practices for long-running production AI systems.
• Improve model and system performance under latency, reliability, cost, regulatory, and safety constraints.
• Collaborate with platform engineering, product, and risk stakeholders to move complex AI solutions into production.
• Help shape AI standards and responsible deployment practices at scale.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of experience building, deploying, and operating machine learning or AI systems in production using Python.
• Demonstrated experience delivering GenAI or LLM-powered applications actively used by clients or internal teams.
• Strong data analysis and experimentation skills with Python, SQL, and Pandas.
• Experience evaluating model quality, reliability, and trade-offs under real-world constraints.
• Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, product, and other stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience designing or operating agentic or orchestrated AI systems with tool-enabled or multi-step workflows.
• Experience with AI evaluation, monitoring, or reliability practices.
• Experience operating AI solutions in regulated, high-stakes, or risk-sensitive environments.
• Technical leadership or mentoring experience.
