Staff Data Scientist (AI/ML)

Location: San Francisco, CA or Remote (U.S.)

Total compensation: $170,000–$248,000 annually, including salary and equity.

What you will do

• Optimize, tune, and evaluate AI products using extensive healthcare datasets.
• Build product and client-facing analytics for medical professionals.
• Define and lead data projects from ingestion through analysis and recommendations.
• Shape data team strategy in partnership with product leaders and managers.
• Collaborate with product managers, analysts, and developers on large-scale data initiatives.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional experience as a Data Scientist or in a related role working with complex, high-volume datasets.
• Advanced knowledge of exploratory data analysis, experimental design, probability theory, and other statistical concepts.
• Deep understanding of deep learning, reinforcement learning, and LLM fine-tuning methods including SFT, DPO, and RFT.
• Experience designing, training, and evaluating large-scale models with PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Advanced Python and SQL skills, including production-grade code design and complex query optimization.
• Experience with distributed data processing, scalable model training, data visualization, and technical storytelling.
