Migration Architect (Mainframe to GCP)

Salary: $82,082–$193,440 per year in the posted location

What you will do

• Define and lead target-state architectures for migrating legacy mainframe systems to hybrid or cloud-native Google Cloud environments.
• Design GCP landing zones covering security frameworks, IAM, networking, governance, high availability, and disaster recovery.
• Lead end-to-end mainframe-to-GCP migration and modernization programs, including dual-run and parallel testing for data consistency, transaction parity, and performance benchmarking.
• Design event-driven and API-led integrations between legacy and modern systems.
• Implement DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, automation frameworks, and platform engineering practices.
• Build data and telemetry solutions using Pub/Sub, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and GKE while advising senior stakeholders on transformation strategy.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in enterprise application or platform architecture.
• 6+ years of hands-on experience in mainframe modernization and legacy transformation programs.
• Proven experience leading large-scale mainframe-to-cloud migration initiatives.
• Hands-on expertise with z/OS, COBOL, PL/I, JCL, CICS, IMS, DB2, and VSAM.
• Strong experience with GCP architecture and services, application modernization, hybrid-cloud integration, event-driven architecture, DevOps, CI/CD automation, cloud security, and governance.
• Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement from one of the listed U.S. locations.
