TL;DR
Mechanical Assembly Technician (Evening Shift) (Aerospace Manufacturing): Building, assembling, and testing mechanical components for Electron launch vehicles with an accent on precision assembly, workmanship, cleanliness for oxygen service, and ESD standards. Focus on manufacturing components through riveting and precision assembly, operating mechanical, electrical, and automated test equipment, and inspecting assemblies against exacting quality requirements.

Location: Auckland, New Zealand; onsite day or evening shift

hirify.global builds rockets, spacecraft, and critical subsystems, including the Electron launch vehicle.

What you will do

  • Receive components from the supply chain and complete mechanical assembly and testing.
  • Build, launch, or test launch vehicles and their components using tools, equipment, and facilities.
  • Manufacture components to high workmanship standards, including riveting and precision assembly.
  • Operate mechanical, electrical, and automated test equipment.
  • Inspect assemblies and pass completed components to the Integration team.
  • Work with test and design engineers to support product quality, safety, and production schedules.

Requirements

  • Trade qualification in a relevant industry or 4+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience with precision mechanical assembly.
  • Ability to work to exacting standards, including cleanliness requirements for oxygen service.
  • Working understanding of standard industry ESD practices.
  • Good eyesight and ability to inspect assemblies to a high workmanship standard.
  • For New Zealand roles, nationality checks and background checks are required because the position involves access to ITAR-regulated equipment and data.

  • Ability to read, understand, and follow manufacturing instructions and drawings.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team.
  • Computer literacy and comfort using smartphones and tablets.
  • Initiative, composure under pressure, and willingness to take on additional responsibility.
