Lead Engineer, GSE and Production Tooling (Aerospace)

Location: Middle River, Maryland, United States; onsite at hirify.global's Space Structures Complex production facility

Salary: $115,000–$187,850 USD base pay per year

What you will do

• Lead a team of engineers responsible for tooling, ground support equipment, and testing for the Neutron launch vehicle.
• Develop production tooling to scale manufacturing, improve assembly accuracy, reduce setup times, and minimize crane use.
• Design ground support equipment for vehicle testing, transport, and integration.
• Coordinate qualification and structural testing with the structures, facilities, operations, and engineering teams.
• Manage facility-wide constraints, capital projects, training plans, project schedules, and design reviews.
• Mentor engineers and technicians, manage performance, and recruit additional engineering staff as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, manufacturing engineering, or another technical discipline.
• At least 5 years of engineering design experience.
• Experience in a leadership position.
• For U.S. office roles, eligibility to access ITAR-regulated technology is required, including U.S. citizenship, lawful U.S. permanent residence, qualifying refugee or asylum status, or applicable government authorizations.
• Ability to work in office and technical environments, move between buildings and production areas, and use computers, tools, and technical equipment.

Nice to have

• Experience designing large tooling and structures.
• Working knowledge of Siemens NX and Teamcenter.
• Familiarity with metallic machining, welding, fabrication, structural analysis, hand calculations, and FEA.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs and wiring diagrams.
• Leadership skills in change management, conflict resolution, escalation, and team management.
