TL;DR
Technical Specialist Sr (Avionics Test Systems): Designing and delivering avionics ground and component test systems for rocket engine development and production with an accent on electrical and electro-mechanical assembly, hardware integration, and configuration control. Focus on building and troubleshooting test equipment, integrating flight avionics and operator consoles, and developing cable, harness, rack, and power-distribution infrastructure for safe and repeatable spaceflight.

Location: Greater Seattle Area; up to 25% travel to rocket engine test sites. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or nationals, U.S. permanent residents, or lawfully admitted refugees or asylees.

Base pay for Washington applicants: $124,476.00–$174,265.35 per year. Other site ranges may differ.

What you will do

  • Participate in the requirements, design, architecture, procurement, build, integration, and checkout of avionics component testers.
  • Support open-box and card-to-card testing, electronic assembly checkout, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
  • Create and release drawings for rack layouts, harnesses, breakout boxes and panels, power distribution, grounding, and component hardware infrastructure.
  • Integrate flight avionics, hardware, operator consoles, and test equipment to verify avionics unit requirements and performance.
  • Coordinate equipment and harness assembly and installation with technicians while maintaining supply chain and configuration control.
  • Assemble, test, and rework electrical and mechanical systems, cables, and harness assemblies.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in a STEM technology program or 10+ years of aerospace test experience.
  • At least 5 years of industry experience with electrical or electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Experience handling small mechanical and electrical parts and interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and assembly procedures.
  • Proficiency with standard electronic laboratory test and troubleshooting equipment.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Must meet U.S. export control eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • Experience designing avionics laboratories, electrical ground support equipment, or electrical equipment test assets.
  • Working knowledge of digital and analog circuits, computers, microprocessors, and networks.
  • Experience with CREO, Zuken, or equivalent engineering drawing and modeling tools.
