Avionics Engineer

Location: Playa Vista, California; in-person five days per week. Candidates must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, protected individuals under 22 C.F.R. § 120.15, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

Salary: $130,000–$150,000 per year, plus annual performance-based bonuses and equity.

What you will do

• Design, build, and test avionics hardware including flight computers, power systems, sensor suites, and communications systems.
• Support component- and system-level qualification testing for vibration, thermal, and EMI/EMC environments.
• Integrate avionics with vehicle harnesses, structures, software, and system-level test activities.
• Troubleshoot hardware during integration, testing, and flight operations.
• Develop test procedures, support flight readiness reviews, and contribute to avionics architecture decisions.
• Support vehicle assembly, integration, and test.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience designing and testing avionics hardware for aerospace or similarly complex systems.
• Experience with flight computers, power distribution units, sensor integration, or communication systems.
• Proficiency with schematic capture and circuit analysis tools.
• Experience debugging embedded systems and using oscilloscopes and laboratory test equipment.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with software, structures, and test teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with radiation-tolerant or flight-heritage avionics components.
• Familiarity with reentry or hypersonic vehicle environments.
• FPGA or embedded firmware development experience.
• Background at a launch vehicle, satellite, or spacecraft company.
