Staff Software Engineer (Frontend Infrastructure and AI)

Location: Remote - USA

Salary: $192,000–$264,000 annual base salary for California and New York City; other state-specific ranges may apply.

What you will do

• Own and evolve frontend platform architecture, including module boundaries, micro-frontends, shared components, design systems, and state management.
• Diagnose systemic frontend performance issues and establish scalable budgets and guardrails for bundle size, load time, rendering, and runtime performance.
• Build and maintain build systems, local development environments, CI/CD pipelines, linting, code generation, and internal developer tooling.
• Develop AI-agent-driven engineering workflows that identify and automate the largest sources of manual effort in the software delivery process.
• Set technical direction and standards, mentor senior and staff-track engineers, and review architecture proposals involving shared frontend infrastructure.
• Partner with product engineering, design systems, and platform teams to address frontend infrastructure needs.

Requirements

• Staff-level or equivalent software engineering scope and impact.
• Deep expertise in modern frontend architecture, including React or an equivalent component framework.
• Strong infrastructure and systems engineering experience with build tooling, CI/CD, and development environments.
• Experience improving frontend application performance at scale.
• Experience building internal developer tooling or platform infrastructure that improved developer velocity.
• Experience with AI-agent-driven or LLM-powered engineering workflows, or a clear perspective on building them.

Nice to have

• Experience with monorepo tooling, micro-frontends, or large-scale frontend platform migrations.
• Familiarity with design systems and component library architecture.
• Experience building agent-harness infrastructure, evaluation frameworks, agent orchestration, or LLM tool-use frameworks.
