Sr Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Sheffield, England, UK; hybrid with three days per week in the office

Salary: £60,000–£78,000 per year

What you will do

• Build and ship AI-powered features that turn product usage data into actionable customer suggestions.
• Deliver full-stack functionality with a strong frontend focus using TypeScript, Vue.js, DOM-level development, component architecture, and backend services.
• Validate customer problems through customer calls, prototypes, and feedback, then shape scope and product direction.
• Define success metrics and use product usage data to guide feature iteration.
• Use AI coding tools such as Cursor and Claude Code while reviewing generated code with strong engineering judgment.
• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering; contribute to code reviews, mentorship, and team unblocking.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience building with LLMs and AI agents through production work or personal projects.
• Full-stack web engineering experience with a frontend lean, strong TypeScript skills, DOM expertise, and the ability to reason about backend services.
• 3+ years of experience building and scaling web applications.
• Strong product judgment, including defining scope and making decisions in ambiguous situations.
• Experience defining feature success metrics, using real usage data, and engaging directly with customers or end users.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, design principles, API development, communication, mentorship, and team support.

Nice to have

• Product management, product discovery, roadmap prioritization, or specification-writing experience.
• Experience with product analytics, experiments, A/B tests, or beta programs.
• Browser DOM inspection or automation experience and accessibility knowledge.
• Familiarity with Model Context Protocol, LLM agent tooling, real-time data pipelines, or streaming architectures.
• Experience sharing technical insights and supporting continuous learning.
