Staff Platform Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote within the United States

Salary: $121,600–$228,000 gross annually, depending on US geographic pay tier

What you will do

• Build and operate infrastructure, tooling, and pipelines for a medical-device product spanning embedded Linux devices and cloud systems.
• Own the build, signing, rollout, rollback, configuration, recovery, and operational tooling for the in-field Linux kiosk fleet.
• Design CI/CD, test-gated release promotion, controlled approvals, traceability, and reversible deployment systems for device and cloud software.
• Operate AWS and Terraform infrastructure while improving observability, alerting, reliability, backup, recovery, auditability, and security.
• Create golden paths and self-service tools that enable independent deployments and support complex build and deployment issues.
• Partner with Product, Clinical, Regulatory, InfoSec, and data-science teams on regulatory submissions, clinical studies, reproducible environments, scalable compute, and model serving.

Requirements

• 8+ years of platform, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering experience in AWS, with Staff-level ownership of production CI/CD and release systems.
• Strong software-engineering skills in Python or Go, including designing, building, testing, and maintaining production tooling and services.
• Experience operating Linux-based systems and networked or IoT device fleets, including OTA update strategies.
• Deep expertise in Terraform or Terragrunt, Docker, and ECS/Fargate and/or Kubernetes.
• Experience building observability and operating production monitoring and alerting systems with Datadog or CloudWatch.
• Must be able to work remotely from the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience in regulated, safety-critical, high-assurance, or sensitive-data environments, especially medical devices or Software as a Medical Device.
• Hands-on experience with Mender or comparable embedded-Linux OTA systems, signed images, and A/B updates.
• Knowledge of FDA 510(k) or De Novo pathways, HIPAA/GDPR, PKI, device authentication, threat modeling, or secure connected-device systems.
• Experience supporting data and ML platforms, secure overlay networks, multi-account or multi-region architectures, GCP or Azure, and diagnostic or imaging devices.
