Staff Software Engineer – Data (AI)

Salary: $198,200–$297,400 USD per year, with potential bonus eligibility.

What you will do

• Design, build, operate, and evolve large-scale distributed data systems supporting real-time and near real-time analytics.
• Lead the architecture of the Real-Time Analytics Platform, improving scalability, reliability, performance, and developer productivity.
• Build and optimize stream-processing and analytics services using Apache Flink, Spark Structured Streaming, ClickHouse, Apache Druid, AWS MSK, and Apache Kafka.
• Integrate batch and streaming workloads through modern lakehouse architectures and interoperable data platforms.
• Build AI-powered capabilities for engineering workflow automation, data quality, platform operations, troubleshooting, and developer productivity.
• Provide technical leadership through architecture ownership, mentoring, incident response, production support, and cross-functional strategy.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of experience designing and building large-scale distributed systems, with expertise in real-time data processing, analytics, or data platform engineering.
• Strong Python skills and experience building production-grade distributed systems and data-processing applications.
• Hands-on experience with Apache Flink, Apache Spark Structured Streaming, or equivalent distributed streaming technologies.
• Production experience with ClickHouse, Apache Druid, or equivalent OLAP and analytics databases, including query optimization, data modeling, and performance tuning.
• Experience with event-driven data pipelines, AWS MSK, Apache Kafka, AI/ML techniques, systems design, architecture ownership, and mentoring.

Nice to have

• Experience with Scala, Databricks, Apache Iceberg, and modern lakehouse architectures.
• Experience building or operating multi-tenant, self-service data platforms.
• Experience collaborating with globally distributed engineering teams across organizations and time zones.
