Senior/Staff Software Engineer (Infrastructure)

Location: New York City, hybrid

Estimated total compensation: $200,000–$300,000 annually, plus equity and comprehensive benefits.

What you will do

• Design and own systems that provision, scale, and manage the infrastructure underlying Airflow deployments.
• Design and evolve REST and gRPC APIs for infrastructure lifecycle management, customer-facing interfaces, and programmatic integrations.
• Own networking and security, including authentication, authorization, CVE remediation, image hardening, and Pod Security Standards compliance.
• Architect metrics, logs, and distributed tracing across service and network boundaries.
• Participate in on-call operations, incident resolution, post-mortems, and remediation planning.
• Mentor engineers and improve design, code review, testing, and operational practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of infrastructure, platform, or systems engineering experience; Staff-level hiring typically requires 8+ years.
• Hands-on Kubernetes experience, including custom Operators, CRDs, and Helm-based deployments.
• Experience designing REST or gRPC APIs with data modeling, versioning, and backward compatibility.
• Strong fundamentals in networking, distributed systems, reliability engineering, and security.
• Proficiency in Go and/or TypeScript, or the ability to learn new programming languages quickly.
• Experience with observability, distributed tracing, cross-team technical leadership, and mentoring.

Nice to have

• Experience with multi-tenant control planes.
• Experience shipping software to air-gapped or highly regulated environments.
• Familiarity with Apache Airflow internals or other data-orchestration platforms.
• Incident command or on-call leadership experience.
