Senior Backend Engineer (AI)

Location: New York; hybrid work with 3+ days per week in the NYC office

Base salary: $240K plus equity

What you will do

• Build platform and backend systems across recording, integrations, AI agents, and related capabilities.
• Own key features end to end, from architecture and implementation through deployment and support.
• Design scalable backend services for real-time processing of sales conversations.
• Drive code quality through reviews, documentation, and engineering best practices.
• Partner with product and design to turn customer needs into technical solutions.
• Own system health and improve development practices and tooling for sustainable scaling.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Willingness to work in the NYC office at least 3 days per week.
• Strong proficiency in modern programming languages, databases, API frameworks, and cloud platforms such as GCP.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a first-principles approach.
• Strong communication skills for explaining complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with or interest in backend systems, real-time processing, and scalable services.

Nice to have

• Experience with Node, TypeScript, serverless functions, Google Cloud Platform, Git, Datadog, or Figma.
• Experience working across the full stack.
