Senior Software Engineer (C++)

Location: San Francisco, hybrid

Salary: $215,000–$265,000 per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Develop high-quality open-source software for Ray's distributed programming platform.
• Lead cross-team projects and mentor junior team members.
• Identify, implement, and evaluate architectural improvements to Ray Core.
• Optimize performance for large-scale workloads and improve fault tolerance and high availability.
• Improve testing infrastructure and release quality.
• Communicate technical work through talks, tutorials, and blog posts.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of relevant professional experience.
• Experience building scalable and fault-tolerant distributed systems.
• Extensive experience with C/C++ and low-level operating systems.
• Strong background in algorithms, data structures, and system design.
• Experience leading projects and mentoring junior engineers.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of distributed model training and inference, including tensor and pipeline parallelism.
• Knowledge of GPU programming.
