What you will do

• Monitor breaking news and trending stories across the sports landscape and identify the most relevant coverage.
• Write accurate, concise breaking news articles, headlines, captions, and feature content.
• Provide live coverage of games and key sporting events.
• Create push alerts for breaking news, videos, and featured analysis.
• Curate news feeds combining articles, video, and social media content from multiple sources.
• Pitch and execute feature stories related to sports events and news.

Requirements

• Extensive knowledge of major sports, including teams, players, statistics, history, and economics.
• Strong knowledge of modern digital journalism, social media, and mobile content.
• Ability to make immediate editorial judgments and work accurately under pressure and tight deadlines.
• Ability to write news, headlines, and feature content to deadline.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to make an impact in a large organization.
• Availability to work weekends and evenings.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of international soccer leagues, teams, and players.
• Previous experience as a news editor or writer in a post-secondary or professional newsroom.
• Degree in journalism.
