Location: Remote within the United States; the role is remote-optional and salary eligibility depends on the candidate's US location.

Starting salary: $75,000–$125,000 per year, depending on location, experience, and skills.

What you will do

• Co-author a daily newsletter with insights and scoops relevant to San Francisco residents.
• Report on diverse aspects of life, events, and issues in San Francisco.
• Break news, develop conceptual scoops, and build a strong network of sources.
• Use AI tools to improve reporting and newsletter production responsibly.
• Write conversationally in hirify.global' Smart Brevity style.
• Help build hirify.global Local and shape the evolution of its product.

Requirements

• Experience covering San Francisco.
• Excellent existing sources and the ability to develop new ones.
• Proven experience working in a fast-paced news environment and meeting deadlines.
• Strong writing skills, curiosity about local life, and comfort using voice and personality.
• Ability to break news and produce original scoops.
• Active development of AI literacy and responsible use of AI tools.
