Principal Analyst (Defense)

Location: NOB Norfolk, Norfolk, Virginia, USA; regular onboard support and short at-sea periods on aircraft carriers required

Salary: $92,000–$93,000 per year

What you will do

• Coordinate aircraft carrier maintenance throughout deployment, home-port return, availability planning, execution, shakedown, work-up, and deployment cycles.
• Support the Combat Systems Officer and represent COMNAVAIRLANT Ship’s Material Directorate in resolving equipment casualties and maintenance issues.
• Coordinate with NAVSEA, NAVAIR, NAVWAR, PEO C4I, and public and private shipyards.
• Attend Combat Systems Conferences and Shipyard Project Team meetings.
• Prepare Combat System Interface Diagrams, modernization status reports, and other technical reporting.
• Perform additional duties in response to emerging requirements and priorities.

Requirements

• Extensive afloat service operating and managing CVN Combat System suites across C5I functions.
• Understanding of Navy ship Combat Systems, with specific focus on CVN operations and systems.
• Experience with Tactical Air communications systems.
• Understanding of Navy modernization processes, including SCD, modifications, Project Team execution, Modernization Readiness Assessment, and Pre-Installation Check Out.
• Ability to troubleshoot Combat Systems and apply corrective actions; excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work customer-dependent hours and get underway onboard a CVN for short at-sea periods. A BS degree is recommended; former E-7 or higher, LDO, or CWO experience with a Combat Systems background is highly valued.
