Chief Technology Officer (AI)

Location: Minneapolis, United States; frequent paid travel to the Minneapolis headquarters is required for company events, team events, and in-person collaboration.

Salary: $385,000–$476,000 annually, inclusive of a 40% bonus.

What you will do

• Own Ovative’s technology vision and translate business goals into a technology product roadmap with Product Management.
• Lead the architecture and engineering delivery of EMRge, including its Databricks data lake, platform services, client-facing capabilities, and infrastructure.
• Build the AI Operating System that integrates Claude, Glean, ClickUp, Slack, Outlook, and other tools into coordinated, agent-driven workflows.
• Establish engineering standards for reliability, scalability, security, observability, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and SOC 2 compliance.
• Own AI security, governance, vendor strategy, build-versus-buy decisions, and LLMOps practices covering evaluation, cost attribution, observability, and model lifecycle management.
• Lead approximately 35 engineers across six product teams and a client delivery function, while representing technology with executives, clients, partners, and industry forums.

Requirements

• 18+ years of engineering experience and 7+ years leading engineering managers in high-growth environments.
• Hands-on technical leadership experience with architecture and system design for enterprise integration and orchestration systems.
• Production experience with LLM systems, including RAG pipelines, agent orchestration, MCP or equivalent tool-use patterns, and LLMOps.
• Experience operationalizing access controls, credential management, audit logging, least privilege, and other enterprise security requirements.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud data infrastructure; Databricks experience is strongly preferred.
• Ability to communicate clearly with engineers, product partners, clients, executives, and board-level stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Prior individual-contributor experience in software, data, or ML/AI engineering.
• Experience building platforms for non-engineering users and driving adoption.
• Experience with Claude Enterprise or the Anthropic API.
• Background in marketing technology, measurement, or analytics-heavy SaaS environments.
• External thought leadership through conference speaking, technical writing, or industry presence in AI or data engineering.
