TL;DR
Electrical Engineering Intern, Summer 2026 (Smart Hardware): Designing, testing, and validating hardware for consumer food-waste recycling products with an accent on analog, digital, and power circuits, microcontrollers, sensors, and motor drivers. Focus on running experiments, analyzing hardware performance, supporting engineering builds, and solving root-cause issues with cross-functional teams.

Location: San Bruno, California. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States; employment visa sponsorship is unavailable.

Salary: $35–$45 per hour, excluding benefits and potential equity.

What you will do

  • Collaborate with mechanical, systems, and firmware teams on the design and validation of new products.
  • Run experiments, collect and analyze hardware performance data, and document and validate results.
  • Support engineering builds with contract manufacturers and partner teams by tracking test data and troubleshooting issues.
  • Work with engineers to identify root causes and develop solutions and workarounds.
  • Use hardware components, laboratory equipment, and schematic and layout design tools during product development.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Fundamental understanding of analog, digital, and power circuit design.
  • Experience with microcontrollers, sensors, and motor drivers.
  • Experience using oscilloscopes, signal generators, multimeters, or similar test and measurement equipment.
  • Experience with Raspberry Pi, Python, or equivalent tools for scripting data collection and analysis.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Altium or other schematic design tools.
