Finance & Strategy, Compute Accelerator (AI)

Location: San Francisco, CA; hybrid policy requiring staff to work from an Anthropic office at least 25% of the time

Annual salary: $190,000–$240,000 USD

What you will do

• Lead budgeting, monthly forecasting, variance analysis, and financial planning for cloud accelerator compute spend.
• Build bottoms-up financial models covering infrastructure costs, long-range forecasts, cost drivers, and investment scenarios.
• Analyze compute contracts, pricing structures, chip economics, and infrastructure optimization opportunities.
• Own the source of truth for Anthropic’s compute capacity plan and plan of record.
• Analyze the economics and ROI of model training and research compute across training sizes, chip types, and data.
• Partner with engineering and research teams to translate training and reinforcement learning dynamics into financial frameworks.

Requirements

• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, critical-thinking, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Demonstrated experience developing complex financial operating models and driving financial optimization with technical teams.
• Background in AI, machine learning, or large-scale high-performance computing infrastructure, including data centers or cloud providers.
• 7+ years of experience in strategic finance, infrastructure investment, private equity, growth equity, consulting, or investment banking.
• 3+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure financial management.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant education, training, or experience.

Nice to have

• Direct experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• MBA or advanced degree in finance, economics, or business.
• Expertise in cloud provider economics, contract structures, and pricing models.
• Experience with chip architecture economics and optimization strategies.
• Proficiency with SQL, Python, Excel, and financial modeling tools such as Pigment.
