TL;DR
Electronic Repair Engineer (Electronics/Embedded Systems): Repairing, upgrading, modifying, and verifying complex electronic and electromechanical equipment at the component level with an accent on advanced diagnostics, calibration, power electronics, and embedded hardware. Focus on troubleshooting high-power DC supplies and motor systems, analyzing analog, digital, and RF circuitry, and repairing high-density components including surface-mount and BGA devices.

What you will do

  • Repair, upgrade, modify, and verify complex automatic and logic-controlled electronic or electromechanical equipment at the component level.
  • Use advanced diagnostic techniques to analyze major malfunctions and troubleshoot circuitry to the component level.
  • Set up, operate, adjust, and calibrate complex instrumentation using traceable standards.
  • Repair and test high-power DC supplies ranging from 1 kW to 80 kW, as well as AC and DC servo and stepper motors.
  • Provide repair estimates, document repair procedures, and train others on repair methods.
  • Maintain key component stock levels and collaborate with customers, suppliers, employees, and management.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering and three to four years of directly related electromechanical experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Advanced component-level troubleshooting skills and the ability to interpret electrical datasheets and related terminology.
  • Proficient soldering and desoldering skills, including surface-mount, BGA, and high-density components.
  • Knowledge of analog, digital, and RF electronics, AC and DC circuitry, advanced test equipment, and discrete semiconductor characteristics.
  • Experience with embedded hardware and firmware, including CPLD, FPGA, and MPU systems, plus hardware programming interfaces such as JTAG.
  • Ability to work independently in a high-pressure environment, lift more than 50 pounds, and follow electrical, chemical, and mechanical safety procedures.

Nice to have

  • Previous experience as a Hardware Engineer focused on repairs.
  • Experience with LabVIEW, Python, MultiSim, or equivalent electrical design software.
