TL;DR
Project Industrial Engineer (Automation): Leading large-scale manufacturing automation projects involving robotic cells, cobots, material automation, and redesigned plant workflows with an accent on systems engineering, cycle-time analysis, layout design, and production planning. Focus on evaluating project feasibility and ROI, coordinating installation and safety buyoff, and designing sustainable automation processes that meet safety, ergonomic, quality, takt, and efficiency requirements.

Location: Onsite in Spring Hill, Tennessee, United States; full-time presence at the designated location is required. Travel to equipment suppliers may be required, up to 25%. The role may be eligible for relocation benefits.

What you will do

  • Lead large-scale manufacturing projects introducing robotic cells, collaborative robots, and material automation systems.
  • Design and modify manufacturing systems, workflows, workstation layouts, equipment layouts, and material storage layouts to support automation.
  • Evaluate project feasibility, capability, return on investment, cycle times, and simulation data.
  • Develop business cases, Statements of Work, Statements of Requirement, execution plans, milestones, and critical paths with engineering groups and area leaders.
  • Support safety buyoffs, automation installation, Start of Regular Production, supplier runoffs, and production launch activities.
  • Develop manual backup processes and long-term automation sustainability plans, including preventive maintenance, spare parts, standardized work, and production requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience and experience leading complex continuous improvement projects with significant autonomy.
  • Knowledge of robotic systems, robotic cells, collaborative robots, material automation, or general programming.
  • Proficiency in labor optimization tools, time-study analysis, AutoCAD, or computer-aided drafting and layout tools.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work onsite, including off-shift hours, weekends, or overtime when required for project implementation.

Nice to have

  • Human factors engineering, safety engineering, or ergonomic analysis experience.
  • Experience with Throughput Improvement Processes, data or statistical analysis, or unionized manufacturing environments.
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
