TL;DR
Mechanical Engineer (Robotics) (Mechatronic Systems): Developing robotic mechanical systems from actuator design and kinematics through prototyping and high-volume production with an accent on reliability, manufacturability, and electromechanical integration. Focus on designing production-ready assemblies, validating them through FEA and reliability testing, and solving complex thermal, EMI, supplier, and manufacturing challenges.

What you will do

  • Own the mechanical design lifecycle from concept and proof-of-concept prototypes through high-volume production.
  • Design and integrate actuators, kinematics, electronics, sensors, PCBs, antennas, batteries, and other mechatronic components.
  • Develop and optimize manufacturing processes including injection molding, die casting, stamping, machining, adhesives, and bonding.
  • Perform reliability testing, tolerance stack-ups, environmental testing, FEA, and first-order analyses to improve robustness.
  • Build prototypes, run experiments, analyze failures, and translate findings into mass-production-ready designs.
  • Coordinate with electrical, radio, manufacturing, and supplier teams and lead design reviews and vendor decisions.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience taking hardware products from concept to production, with shipped mechanical designs.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Deep understanding of high-volume manufacturing processes and practical use of FEA tools.
  • Experience with HALT/HASS, FMEA, DOE, test-to-failure methods, and mechanical integration of electronics.
  • Proficiency in machining, sheet metal fabrication, 3D printing, and injection molding prototyping.
  • Ability to lead reviews, influence cross-functional teams, and communicate design risks and trade-offs clearly.

Nice to have

  • Experience in robotics, automotive, or consumer products.
  • Experience working in early-stage, resource-limited startup environments.
